1 Dead, 1 Critical in Pineville Fire

PINEVILLE, LA – Louisiana State Fire Marshals continue to examine the cause of a trailer fire that claimed the life of a Pineville resident and critically injured another.

The Alpine Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the 2100 block of Hickory Hill Road.

Firefighters were able to locate two bodies after putting out the fire.

Neida Reeves, 58, was found on the bedroom floor and transported to the Rapides Parish coroner’s office for autopsy.

The second occupant, Kenneth Ashworth, 56, was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The fire began in the bedroom where Reeve’s body was found, according to State Fire Marshal Investigators.

The investigation is ongoing.
