Customers were buzzing for Blue Bell Ice Cream across Acadiana Monday as the tasty treat was flying off the shelves for it’s big return.
The company recalled all Blue Bell products in April after the brand was linked to ten listeria cases, some fatal.
Customers have been faithfully waiting for their return ever since.
We caught up with LIsa Ayo at the Albertson’s at West Congress and Ambassador Caffey.
She says Blue Bell is a family favorite at her house.
“My whole family has been like, ‘Mom you getting the Blue Bell? it’s here! it’s here!””
She adds that her son has been counting down the days till it’s return.
“He’s been following it in school for world history, I think and other classes, and he’s like ‘it’s coming back this day. You have to be here, you have to get it,”
Ayo says she’s glad she went shopping early.
The first shipment of ice cream was delivered in Lafayette around 4:30 Monday morning and shoppers aren’t wasting time getting their own.
The Homemade Vanilla seemed to be the flavor of choice here.
It was almost sold out before lunch.
“I’m fixing to get a couple more I think,” said Ayo.
Several customers bought more than one tub of ice cream so it’s safe to say that Blue Bell is finally back.
