A joint press conference was held at the Louisiana State Police Headquarters in Lafayette Monday to discuss the results of a multi-agency investigation into organized criminal activity in South Central Louisiana.
The agencies in attendance included: Colonel Mike Edmonson, Louisiana State Police Superintendent, Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillion, Abbeville Chief of Police Tony Hardy, 15th Judicial District Attorney Keith Stutes, LSP Region II Patrol Command Inspector Major Becket Breaux, LSP Troop I Commander Captain James Cormier, LSP Bureau of Investigation Region II Commander Captain Benny Broussard.
Authorities announced the arrest of 10 members of the “Gremlins Gang,” with seven members still at large. Those arrested include: Roland Bernard, Gregory Bessard, Kendall Breaux, Kavan Broussard, Xavier Dyson, Andrew Granger, Wesley Laviolette, Stephen Walker, Gene Williams III, and Nakia Zenon, all from the Abbeville area.
Still at large are: Aaron Carter, Darren Carter, Travis Cooper, Jerran Diggs, Kirkland Demouchet, Cody Guidry and Johnathan Landry, all identified as being from the Abbeville area.
Police say associates of the Gremlins gang are suspected of engaging in numerous narcotics and violent crimes including homicide, intimidation of witnesses, and widespread distribution of narcotics.
