A stolen cell phone led police to an armed robbery suspect.

Police say 27 year old Leroy Hebert allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint Monday night in the 300 block of Belleau and stole the suspects I-phone 6 and then fled the area on foot.

Approximately 2 hours later, the victim observed activity on the phone through his home computer.

Corporal Paul Mouton said the victim was able to upload a “selfie” picture taken by one of the suspects and provide the information to police.

Officers were able to make contact with the suspect by way of a dating app and lure him to an area hotel.  The suspect went to the hotel believing he was there to meet a woman.  When the suspect arrived he was met by police and found to have the victim’s phone in his possession.

Hebert was arrested and charged with armed robbery. A second suspect remains unidentified.
