The search is on for the person who took Lafayette Police on a foot chase Wednesday night.

It happened around 10 p.m. when police were called about shots fired at Carver and Foote Street in the Truman Subdivision.

Police arrived and noticed a potential suspect, and that’s when the foot pursuit began, according to Corporal Paul Mouton.

While chasing the suspect, police say they had to jump several funces and while in pursuit, the suspects gun discharged.

Police say as the chase continued, they discovered a 40 caliber handgun and the suspects grey hoodie at the corner of Foote and Hilda Street.

Anyone with information, is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 232-TIPS.
