A Lafayette man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into three vehicles and stealing items from within.
At approximately 2:14 a.m. Monday, Scott Police Officers were dispatched to a reported car alarm in the 100 block of Harvest Pointe Circle. A Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputy responded to assist. Moments after arrival, the deputy advised she observed a white male with dark pants and a camouflage jacket on a bicycle leaving a driveway in the 200 block of Harvest Pointe.
Scott officers arrived and assisted with the detaining of the man who was identified as Jeffrey Daniel Furr, 35, of Lafayette. Furr allegedly had multiple items stuffed inside his jacket — some of which, including a purse, fell out when he stood upright.
After being interviewed, he admitted to entering vehicles and stealing the items, consisting of two purses, miscellaneous personal effects, checkbooks, bank cards, $36 cash, change and a set of car keys. As the investigation continued, Furr admitted to three burglaries: two vehicles at one residence in the 200 block of Harvest Pointe and one at the original dispatched location in the 100 block Harvest Pointe.
After speaking with the owners of each vehicle, officers arrested Furr for three counts of simple burglary and transported him to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for booking.
