Lafayette Police arrest suspect in apartment shooting that left two dead

Authorities have arrested an Alexandria man wanted in connection with a shooting that left two people dead, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

Corporal Paul Mouton said officers and Lafayette city marshals arrested Tavis Jenkins, 21, at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway on Monday.

Jenkins is accused of shooting two men inside of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on December 27, 2015.

Antonio Means, 17, died later that day. Linton Batiste, 23, died the next day.

The case is still under investigation.
