PLANO, Texas (WCMH)– The couple had tried and failed multiple times to have a baby of their own, so when they decided to use a surrogate to have a child, their grandmother stepped up.
According to the Medical Center of Plano, Tracey Thompson now shares an even more special bond with her daughter Kelley McKissack. Kelley and her husband Aaron, had tried for three years to have a baby.
After their third miscarriage, Thompson, 53, volunteered to be the surrogate for her daughter and son-in-law. Because she was seven years past menopause, she then went through a series of medical treatments so her body could carry a baby again.
Then, on Wednesday, Thompson gave birth to a 6 pound 11 oz. girl named Kelcey. Grandmother, mother, and baby are all doing well.
“It is such a blessing that I can do this for my daughter,” Thompson told the Medical Center of Plano.
