OPELOUSAS, La. – The suspect wanted for the city’s first homicide of 2016 has been arrested in Arkansas, according to Opelousas Police Cheif Donald Thompson.
Thompson told KLFY detectives are currently en route to Camden, Arkansas to question the suspect, Devonte Lemon, 17, about his involvement in the death of Waled Alqohaif, 29.
Alqohaif was fatally shot Tuesday night at the convenience store he managed in the 600 block of South Railroad Avenue.
Investigators currently do not have a motive for the shooting.
Family members of the victim told KLFY’s Jazmin Thibodeaux that he had plans to move his family from Yemen to the U.S. next week.
