Scott Police capture convicted felon wanted on 5 warrants

UPDATE: A convicted felon who was wanted on several charges in Lafourche Parish, including attempted murder, has been captured, according to Scott Police Chief Chad Leger.

The police chief told KLFY’s Carly Laing that the suspect, Benjamin Sanchez, 24, barricaded himself inside a mobile home at the Landall Mobile Estates.

Scott Police officers and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s SWAT team tried to talk him out of the residence as they waited for a search warrant.

Authorities entered the home and arrested him after they received a warrant around 4 p.m.

Sanchez is currently being booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. He was wanted on warrants for

Leger said Sanchez was wanted in Lafourche Parish on warrants for:

  • Attempted First-Degree Murder
  • Carrying of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Drunk Driving
  • Resisting a Police Officer
  • Contempt of Court

Deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will pick up Sanchez on Monday and take him back to their parish jail.
