JEFFERSON DAVIS PARISH, La. – A Welsh man is now in jail after allegedly taking deputies on a brief high-speed chase last night, according to the sheriff’s office.
Commander Christopher Ivey said Stephen Drew Ledoux, 20, speed past patrol deputies and ran a stop sign at the inteersection of Johnny Benoit Road and Atterberry Road around 9:06 p.m.
The deputies pursuded Ledoux and their radar clocked his Ford F-150 truck allegedly traveling at 76 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone on Atterberry Road.
Ledoux turned onto Cormier Village Road and deputies said they recorded him speeding at 82 mph in a 35 mph zone.
He then drove onto LA Highway 101 and was allegedly recorded speeding at 94 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to Ivey.
Ledoux is also accused of running a stop sign on US Highway 165 before his truck was finally stopped in the 18300 block of Augustine Road.
Ivey said deputies pursued Ledoux for about five miles and the chase lasted around six minutes.
Deputies booked Ledoux into the Jefferson Davis Parish jail without bond on the following charges:
- Aggravated Flight from an Officer
- Reckless Operation
- Signs and Signals violations
