UPDATE: St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death as a homicide, according to Captain Clay Higgins.
Investigators believe the teen died of a gunshot wound.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office is investigating a suspicious death in Melville.
According to Captain Clay Higgins, at 11 p.m. Friday night, Melville Police Chief Anthony Morrow requested assistance after a young male’s body was found in a wooded area near First Street.
Higgins said the sheriff’s office is treating the incident as a suspicious death, adding that a further investigation is being done to determine the exact cause of death.
The victims name is not being released at this time.
