St. Landry Parish deputies arrested a mother and her two sons Tuesday in connection with the death of a Melville teen, who was found in a wooded area near Melville Friday, according to Capt. Clay Higgins with the sheriff’s office.
Higgins said the coroner confirmed Travon Edwards, 15, was shot once. Edwards was found dead Friday in a wooded area near First Street in Melville.
Police arrested Twanda Louray Washington, 33, of Melville and charged her with obstruction of justice and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Washington will be held at the St. Landry Parish Jail.
A 12-year-old boy was arrested and charged with negligent homicide and his brother, a 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice. Higgins said both juveniles will be held at a juvenile detention center.
Washington is the mother of the two juvenile males. Higgins said no further information will be released.
