THIBODAUX, La. – A Thibodaux man has been booked on several counts after deputies said he held a woman against her will and beat her over a 20-hour period.

Jamie Scarbrough, 49, was booked with felony domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment and being an offender armed with a dangerous weapon.

According to Sheriff Craig Webre, the victim, who had a previous relationship with Scarbrough, arrived home for lunch on Monday, Feb. 1 and saw him standing outside. Webre said Scarbrough entered the residence and held the woman inside against her will all the way through the night.

When the victim tried to escape on Tuesday morning, Scarbrough caught up to her and struck her several times in the face and body. Webre said she was able to free herself and call for help.

Scarbrough eventually surrendered and was taken into custody and booked at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
