Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has named former Public Works Director, Robert Benoit, as Confidential Assistant, with the responsibility for administrative compliance, project facilitation and departmental support.
According to Robideaux, Benoit brings 40 years of experience in state and local government to the position, having worked for Lafayette Parish for 28 years and 12 years with the State’s Department of Natural Resources. He presently serves as Chief of Staff for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources and has held leadership roles in the Department of Natural Resources and the Atchafalaya Basin Commission.
Previously, Benoit served as Director of the Public Works Department and Planning, Zoning and Codes Department, among other positions within LCG and the parish government.

Benoit will be tasked with a broad portfolio of responsibilities, primarily supporting and facilitating the work of departmental directors and working with the City-Parish Council in complex constituent matters.
