A 39-year-old Terrebonne Parish woman was killed early Saturday morning after being ejected from a four-wheeler that struck a steel gate in Chauvin, La. according to Louisiana State Police.
Her husband, who was driving, was arrested and booked with vehicular homicide after authorities say they suspect he may have been drinking alcohol.
Authorities identified the woman as Zora White, and her husband as 34-year-old Daniel White III, both of Bourg. They were not wearing helmets, authorities say.
The accident, which was reported shortly after midnight, happened on Pump Road, a restricted access road that leads to a Terrebonne Parish pumping station.
State Police say the couple was riding a 1998 Honda TRX along a restricted access road when the driver apparently failed to see “a large steel gate” across the road and struck it.
