Chastant Brothers presents your Lawn and Garden.
Today on your lawn and garden we’re talking about growing fruit and also citrus and it looks like we have a pretty good crop right here. How do the rest of us get to this point?
These are about 5-7 years old, but if you can make it through the cold they’ll produce hundreds and hundreds of fruits. This grapefruit is so loaded it’s ridiculous. I had to cut limbs off it because it was gonna break them. This is a good time of the year to plant them. We’ll have a good selection of all your citrus and fruit trees. All your peaches, plumbs, all of that.
The main thing as a fungicide for all your fruit and citrus is this good general purpose fungicide, liquid copper. It works great. We also have a great insecticide drench that you drench the soil around the trunk of the tree. You’re not spraying, not getting mist in your face, nothing like that. Put it out with a sprinkler can and it takes care of the insects for a year. Aphids, leaf-miner, all kinds of insects like that. It works great. Safe to use and you only use it once, instead of every week.
Grapefruits will bare like this every year. My Satsumas will sometimes have an off year. Some years though are just crazy how loaded they are.
