Iberia Parish residents flock to get sandbags in preparation for severe weather

With a flash flood watch in full effect, Acadiana residents are gearing up to weather the storm.

Residents flocked to the sandbag distribution center in New Iberia today.

A Flash Flood Watch in effect 6 p.m. Thursday and we shouldn’t see any severe weather until late this evening.

As we prepare for severe weather all across Acadiana, sandbags are being distributed in Iberia parish for residents expecting high water.

Sand will be available at the following places in the parish:

·       B.O.M Fire Station
·       Grand Marais Fire Station
·       Coteau Fire Station
·       Rynella Fire Station
·       Delcambre City Hall
·       Loreauville Park

Shovels will not be provided and residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags.
