The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced a lane closure on Interstate 12 in the Hammond area today due to flooding.
The right travel lane of I-12 westbound is currently closed west of La. 445 (Robert exit) due to flooding from the Tangipahoa River.
Officials are monitoring the water level closely to determine if both travel lanes will need to be closed.
Due to several road closures in the area, including U.S. 190, motorists are advised to use I-10 through New Orleans as a detour to the I-12 westbound lane closure.
