OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – Police say they will be charging the man responsible for a murder that happened early Saturday morning in Opelousas.
Chief Donald Thompson said Davien Bell, 18, will be booked for first-degree murder in the death of Kevin Roberts, 38.
Roberts’s body was found with multiple gunshot wounds near the intersection of Fern and Bernice Street.
Bell was actually arrested early Sunday morning, “during an unrelated investigation into a vehicle burglary and theft of a firearm on W. Landry St.,” according to Thompson.
The chief added that detectives began to receive information connecting Bell to the homicide throughout the day.
Thompson credited the Opelousas community in solving the homicide.
The investigation is still ongoing.
