A Northside High School student has been arrested after bringing an Airsoft pellet gun on campus, according to the Lafayette Parish School System.
Randy Bernard, Academic Specialist for LPSS, confirmed the student was taken into police custody but did not have details on the student’s age or grade.
School officials received a report of a gun on campus around 9 a.m.
The school’s resource officer and administrators “immediately conducted a search” and found the pellet gun, according to Bernard.
Bernard did not have any information on where the weapon was discovered but reiterated there was no firearm on campus and students, “were not at any time under threat from a firearm.”
