The biggest issue for the Saints heading into the off-season: improving one of the worst defenses in the league.
Another step toward that today, with the signing of defensive lineman Nick Fairley. He and the Saints agreed to a 1-year deal worth a reported 3 million and could be five with incentives. Some contracts shuffling will take place to fit his deal under the cap.
Fairley had some off-field issues, but, by the teams account seems to have turned a corner. He was the 1st round pick of the Detroit Lions in 2011. He had 14 sacks in 4 seasons.
