Suspect in weekend double shooting dies

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – The suspect who allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend has died, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

The incident happened around 12:15 a.m. Saturday morning in the 200 block of Merchants Boulevard in Lafayette.

Corporal Paul Mouton said Jonathan Redaux, 28, of Jennings, died on Sunday morning from a self-inflicted gunshot wound that he suffered on Saturday.

Authorities found Redaux in his vehicle Saturday near the intersection of LA 383 and LA 101 in rural Jefferson Davis Parish.

Police say Redaux shot himself with a handgun. Redeaux was then taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital and are listed in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
