LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued body cameras to its patrol deputies.
The law enforcement agency has never used body cameras until now.
Captain John Babin said in a news release that the cameras will be “a valuable tool” for the sheriff’s office and the move comes after “several months of evaluation.”
“The cameras will give deputies the ability to record audio and video of encounters with the public which could help guard against deputies’ misconduct and clear deputies who have been falsely accused of wrongdoing,” according to Babin.
