Covington Police: Man stabs his brother after argument over video game

COVINGTON, La. (WWL-TV) – An argument over a video game ended with one brother stabbing his older brother five times Friday night, according to the Covington Police.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in front of the Covington Quick Stop at 1110 N. Columbia St. in Covington.

Police said that Genard Washington, 28; was involved in a video game with his brother Brandon Washington, 32; when an argument began and Genard stabbed his brother five times.

Brandon was rushed to the St. Tammany Parish Hospital emergency room where he was taken into emergency surgery. Following the surgery, police said Brandon Washington was listed as ‘critical but stable.’

Officers obtained an arrest warrant and a few hours later Genard Washington turned himself in to police and was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on charges of attempted second-degree murder.
