Deputies arrest man in connection with Millcreek Road homicide

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KLFY) – Detectives have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a homicide that happened over the weekend, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators found the body of man “with obvious signs of trauma,” on Saturday at a home in the 300 block of Millcreek Road.

The victim in this case has been identified as 69-year-old Louis Mitchell Beagle.

Captain John Babin said Benjamin Hook, “called his mother and stated to her his involvement in the crime and that he wanted to turn himself into deputies later in the day.”

Hook was arrested and admitted his involvement in the incident to investigators. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the charge of first-degree murder without bond.

The Daily Advertiser reported Hook plead guilty to a 2013 charge of possession of marijuana.
