Two men were arrested for multiple drug and firearms charges Sunday after Opelousas Police stopped a vehicle for suspicious illeqal activity.
Police say officers investigated the suspicious vehicle in the 2200 block of Creswell Lane around 3:30 Sunday morning and developed probable cause to conduct a search.
During the search, police say they found 2 ounces of crystal meth, marijuana, other illegal prescription narcotics and two illegal firearms one being a compact style 12ga. shotgun with an obliberated serial number and the other being a stolen .22 cal revolver.
Both occupants now face criminal charges for illegal drugs and weapons possession. Police Chief Donald Thompson said both offenders have extensive criminal records.
49 year old Thad Thomas of Lafayette was charged with: Poss w/intent to distribute II drugs, felon in possession of a firearm, illegal possession of stolen firearms, and illegal possession of firearm in presence of CDS.
33 year old Christopher Paul Frazer of Lafayette was charged with: Poss w/intent to distribute schedule II drugs, possesson of schedule I drugs, possession of schedule IV drugs, possession of or dealing in firearms with obliterated serial numbers, drug paraphernalia, prohibited acts, illegal possession of firearm in presence of CDS, felon in possession of a firearm.
