LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Downtown Lafayette will soon be packed with festival goers for Festival International De Louisiane. Planning for this event is a major undertaking for not only the city, but several local businesses. Legends General Manager Jason Soileau said festival weekend is one of the restaurant’s busiest weekends of the year.
“We employee most of our staff, we bring them in. It’s all hands on deck. We generally start preparing as far out as two months.”
Agave Downtown General Manager Ibrhim Balbeisi said they make special orders to meet the high demand during festival.
“What we do is, basically a whole month of ordering, we do for these four days. It gets busy, it gets crazy, but it’s so much fun.”
Bars and restaurants aren’t the only places expecting a big crowd. Tess Brunet, Co-Owner of Lagniappe Records said this will be the stores first festival experience.
“I can’t wait to see what it’s going to be like. We were in Baton Rouge before, so this will be a whole new experience, so we’re looking forward to it.”
Soileau said festival can get hectic, but he is looking forward to working festival weekend.
“It’s so welcoming and friendly and the guest of the festival are so great. It really makes the time fly by and it’s a lot of fun. You just can’t find this experience anywhere else.”
