A man is in jail after deputies said he stole a school bus and drove it away from the scene while drunk.
It all happened around 6 a.m. Monday in Thibodeaux. Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies said the driver of the bus reported it missing from her Chackbay residence. While on the way to the driver’s home, deputies saw the bus on Highway 20 and stopped the driver, 21-year-old Jordon Molaison.
While speaking to Molaison, authorities said they noticed a smell of alcohol. Molaison initially refused a field sobriety test. When he did take one, officials said, he was nearly one-and-a-half times over the legal limit.
Deputies said the investigation showed Molaison “hotwired” the bus and damaged a camera inside. He also had a suspended license and did not have an endorsement to drive a bus, officials said.
Molaison was booked on charges including DWI (second offense), driving under suspension and felony theft of a motor vehicle.
