The 13th-ranked LSU Baseball team took a 5-4 over the Arkansas Razorbacks to take the opening game of the three-game Southeastern Conference series Friday evening at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
Alex Lange (6-3) earned the victory after only allowing three runs in 7.1 innings. Lange struck out six batters and only walked one. Over the past three games, the sophomore has only walked three batters.
Hunter Newman earned his third save of the season after limiting the Razorbacks to one run in 1.2 innings.
Arkansas starter Dominic Taccolini dropped to 5-3 on the season. Taccolini allowed five runs in five innings.
LSU improved to 29-16 and 12-10 in conference. Arkansas dropped to 26-20 and 7-15 in league play.

The Razorbacks took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With runners on second and third, left fielder Luke Bonfield hit an RBI ground out to second base. LSU evened the game in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI ground out by shortstop Kramer Robertson.
LSU gained the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Centerfielder Jake Fraley walked with one out and made it home after a stolen base and pair of wild pitches.
Arkansas tied the game in the top of the fifth on an RBI single up the middle by catcher Tucker Pennell.
The Tigers loaded the bases in the sixth inning with a pair of walks and single. LSU plated three runs in the inning on a pair of bases-loaded walks and sac fly by catcher Jordan Romero.
Arkansas added a third run in the eighth inning on a solo home run by first baseman Clark Eagan.
The Razorbacks plated their fourth run of the night on a wild pitch by Newman and had the tying run on third. Newman forced Eagan into a fly out to end the game and secure the win.
