Affirmative Insurance cancels all policies, effective May 12

(MGN)

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles wants to ensure that any customer with an automobile insurance policy issued by Affirmative Insurance or Affirmative Casualty Insurance obtain automobile insurance with a new company before May 12, 2016 in order to avoid an insurance cancellation penalty.

“Customers of both of these insurance companies should have already received notification advising them to obtain replacement insurance coverage prior to their policy expiration or by 11:59pm May 11th, 2016.  However, it is my responsibility to take a few more steps to get this information to our customers.  We are going to utilize every means available to us to minimize the impact to Louisiana citizens” stated OMV Commissioner Karen G. St. Germain.

According to a statement issued by Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon, there are approximately 11,000 policy holders affected by Affirmative’s Insolvency.
