A St. Martinville man was killed after the vehicle he was driving failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a telephone pole in on La. 347 Sunday morning.
Shortly after midnight, 66 year old Clyde Gedward of St. Martinville, La.was driving south when the vehicle he was operatinig ran off of the right side of the roadway, striking a fence and a telephone pole.
Police say Gedward was not wearing a seat belt and sustained critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.
It is unknown if impairment is a factor in the crash, however routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
