The Carencro Fire Department announced Sunday that former Fire Chief Carroll Guilbeau has died at age 95.

In a Facebook post, the department said that Guilbeau died Saturday.

“Chief Guilbeau was the Fire Chief of Carencro for 43 years, and although retired for some time, he still received all fire calls at his residence,” the post stated.

Guilbeau was a founding member of the Lafayette Parish Fire Protection Association and a lifetime member of the Louisiana State Fireman’s Association.

In 2015, the City of Carencro dedicated and renamed our Central Fire Station, the Carroll Guilbeau Station 31.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
