NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for southwest and south central Louisiana.
The weather service says a low pressure system advancing very slowly eastward across Texas will bring occasional moderate to heavy rains across the area through Saturday evening.
Forecaster Donald Jones in Lake Charles says stronger thunderstorm will result in the potential for extreme rainfall rates.
Jones says rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches will be common, with isolated areas receiving 5 to 8 inches.
He says the heavy rainfall will be particularly dangerous in areas where the ground is already saturated.
