NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A funeral will be held Tuesday for a Vanderbilt University baseball player who drowned last week.
The ceremony for Donny Everett will take place at the Faith Outreach Church in Clarksville and burial will follow at Sango Cemetery.
Everett, a Clarksville native, drowned Thursday night while fishing with two teammates and two other friends in Normandy Lake in Coffee County.
The 19-year-old was a freshmen pitcher for Vanderbilt. During his baseball career, he earned a long list of accomplishments.
Everett was named a Perfect Game All-American in 2015, the 2015 Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year, and District Pitcher of the Year. In addition, he became the first recipient of the Mr. Baseball Award in 2015, which is given by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association.
Everett was also an All-District Player from 2012-2015, lettering four years in baseball and helping lead Clarksville High School to district championships in 2014 and 2015.
The Vanderbilt baseball team will serve as pallbearers for the funeral.
