Vigil for Orlando victims to be held in Lafayette Tuesday

(The Daily Advertiser) – Local supporters seeking healing for the city of Orlando, Florida, following a mass shooting at a night club Sunday, are organizing a candlelight vigil Tuesday night.

A Facebook page for Acadiana Community Individuals United for Orlando says the vigil is scheduled for 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Parc Sans Souci, 201 E. Vermilion St.

The page says an official listing for sponsors and guest speakers will be released Monday, Joshua Young said on Facebook. “Our message is of unity.”

“Please join us on Tuesday night for at Parc San Souci 7:30 p.m. for a candle light vigil and expressions of love for all the victims of the Orlando Shooting,” said a message on the page. “Love Conquers FEAR.”

The event is not formally sanctioned by Lafayette Consolidated Government spokeswoman Cydra Wingerter said.
