BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) – Early Sunday morning, an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputy observed a white 1999 Chevy Lumina headed south on N Foster Drive. The vehicle in question was stolen.
Trey Collier, the driver of the vehicle, was ordered to stop by the officer. Collier then pulled into a parking lot and got out of the vehicle. The officer ordered Collier to get on the ground. Collier then allegedly began to back away from the car as the officer ordered his K9, Duke, to approach Collier.
Collier then allegedly punched the dog in the head and after a brief struggle, was taken into custody. It was also discovered that Collier was in possession of ecstasy and crack cocaine.
Collier is being charged with injuring a police dog, resisting an officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and possession of schedule I and II drugs. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
