ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) – Tuesday Abbeville’s Director of Parks and Recreation was arrested and is now facing charges of child molestation. Parks and Recreational Director Trenton Baudouin, of Abbeville, was booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail Tuesday afternoon.
“He is being charged with two counts of molestation of a juvenile and two counts of sexual battery,” said Master Trooper Brooks David.
Louisiana State Police Master Trooper Brooks David said the initial complaint was filed with the Abbeville Police Department.
“In 2015 we were contacted by Chief Hardy and were asked to take over the investigation.”
State police took over the investigation because of Baudouin’s connections to the Abbeville Police Department.
“He was a former Abbeville police officer,” said David.
The case was sent to state police in 2015.
“Well the complaint was sent to us in 2015. So beginning in March of 2015 state police and that case was finished and completed in October 2015, and it was turned over to the district’s attorney office,” said David.
David said Baudouin continued to work as the city’s rec director until his arrest. We reached out to the mayor’s office to find out why Baudouin continued to work for the city while he was being investigated, the mayor’s office declined to comment.
Baudouin bonded out of jail later Tuesday night and is currently on administrative leave.
