Lafayette Police investigating 2 overnight shootings

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened Tuesday night in Lafayette.

Sgt. Kyle Soriez said the first shooting happened around 6:16 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Friendship Street.

The suspect, David Bernard, 25, is accused of shooting victim during a disturbance the two men were involved in.

Bernard is wanted on charges of aggravated battery by shooting and felon in possession of a handgun, according to Soriez.

The second shooting happened around 11:03 p.m. in the 500 block of Orchid Drive.

Soriez said the suspect or suspects forced their way into the home and shot the victim.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The shootings do not appear to be related and remain under investigation, Soriez said.

Anyone with any information about the shootings is asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
