St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Hunter Safety Courses Announced For Fall 2016

The following has been released by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office:

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La.– The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office will be hosting four Hunter Education classroom courses with each course consisting of two days of training. All of the courses will be held at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Academy Gym located at 1815 Terrace Hwy. St. Martinville, LA. on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, September 10th  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. & Sunday, September 11th 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, September 24th 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. & Sunday, September 25th 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, October 8th  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  & Sunday, October 9th 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, October 22th  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  & Sunday, October 23th 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Each course is limited to 50 students and students must attend all portions of the course in order to receive their certification.  Students must be ten (10) years of age or older by the last day of the class to become certified.

This is not a field day course. Please register ONLY IF you are going to attend.  The classroom temperature is very chilly, so you might want to bring a jacket so that you will be comfortable for the duration of the class.

Lunch will be provided by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office on Saturday for each session.

To register for the course, please do so by logging on to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website; www.wlf.louisiana.gov and click on the Hunter Education Icon on the home

Hunters born on or after September 1, 1969 must attend this training in order to hunt in the State of Louisiana.
