Man accused of involvement in counterfeit check cashing ring in Acadiana

ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY)– One man arrested, accused of being involved in a counterfeit check cashing ring, authorities said.

Major Eddie Thibodeaux with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office said Cordy Brown was allegedly involved in the counterfeit check cashing ring throughout Acadiana which defrauded local businesses out of over $50,000.

Deputies said Brown cashed two counterfeit checks for just under $1,000 at two separate businesses.

Cordy was arrested in Richmond Texas and transported back to the St. Landry Corrections Center.

He was charged with two counts of monetary instrument abuse. His bond was set at $5,000.
