The following was released by Goodwill:
Lafayette, Louisiana: August 16, 2016: Goodwill Industries of Acadiana will hold a special shopping day Wednesday, August 17, 2016 for those affected by the recent floods. All stores will be open as usual for our regular customers, but we will also have vouchers for people affected by the flood to pick up needed clothing items free of charge.
Residents of Acadiana who have been affected by flood waters can go to any of Goodwill’s 11 retail locations (see below) between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. They will register at a table set up just for Flood Relief assistance, and can receive up to 10 items per person at no cost. Those items include clothing, shoes, belts, undergarments and linens. We ask that only those affected by the storm stop at the table.
There will also be staff from Goodwill’s Services Division to help residents with disaster information and resources.
Goodwill is grateful for the gently used items and cash donations that we receive daily from this community. We appreciate the trust you place in us to use your donations where the community needs it most. In times like this, we know that a hand out is necessary. What we do with your donations throughout the year allow us to go a step further and offer a hand up to Acadiana residents every day.
Goodwill Industries of Acadiana is a member of AVOAD, Acadiana Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters, and assists as the organizing agency for clothing donations.
