Westside Elementary to temporarily relocate students while flood damage is evaluated

SCOTT, La. (KLFY) – Several schools around Acadiana closed Friday and Monday as the rain flooded many homes and roads.

Several school buildings also faced damage due to the heavy rains and flooding, including Westside Elementary in Scott.

On Tuesday, teachers from all around Lafayette Parish joined together to help clean up the damage the school sustained.

Once Lafayette Parish public schools reopen on Monday, August 22nd, the school’s 400 plus student body will be split up temporarily while the flood damage the building sustained is fixed.
