MAURICE, La. (KLFY)—The mayor of Maurice, Wayne Theriot said the village has been drastically affected by the torrential rains.

According to the Mayor, over 50 homes suffered severe damage and around 20 homes have minor damage.

The historic flooding has also caused damage to Maurice’s city Hall.

The facility and all the equipment were lost to the flooding.

The City Hall is located in a temporary building between the police station and the water plant facility.

“We virtually lost everything.” Said Mayor Theriot, “We lot all the computers, communication equipment, furnishings, records… records that went back to 1940, even some that went back older than that… we lost all that.”

Theriot says he expects to be fully up and running next week.
