LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Louisiana’s first and only pirate band, The Whiskey Bay Rovers, will be performing at the annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day event Saturday, September 17th.
Throughout the day’s events, the Lafayette-based group will be accepting donations for and donating their tips to the Renaissance Living History Center, an educational non-profit organization based out of the Louisiana Renaissance Festival.
The Center was one of many places hit hard by the historic flooding in August.
Band member Steve Benelli says structures at LARF took about ten feet of water and most of their materials and equipment were destroyed.
The event begins at noon with their annual ‘International Talk Like a Pirate Day’ show at Bayou Teche Brewing until 2:00 p.m.
Next, the Whiskey Bay Rovers will head to Downtown Lafayette for the Second Annual ‘International Talk Like a Pirate Day’ Pirate Pub Crawl.
That crawl begins at Jefferson Street Pub at 3:30 p.m.
Throughout the day the band will be performing many pirate songs and sea chanteys for the crowds.
