CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A local photographer captured the aftermath of 9/11 just days after the terrorist attack occurred.

Photographer Douglas Potoksky documented the memorials and tributes that were set up in the days following September 11th 2001. He told 22News his photographs help convey the incredible support and unity America experienced after the attacks.

“When you look at the photographs you don’t see Republican/Democrat richer or poorer you just see America” said Potoksky.

The book, American Heart 9/11 10th anniversary is a collection of 70 photographs–and 28 of those photos are part of the September 11th Bearing witness to history collection at the Smithsonian.
