Burglary at Cajun Field remains top priority for police

LAFAYETTE, La (KLFY) – Campus police at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette are continuing their search for the two suspects wanted for stealing from Cajun Field

Lieutenant Billy Abrams said it’s no laughing matter — stealing is a crime – one that UL Police will not tolerate,”When you have these suspects do these little things and they get away with it, then they usually try to do something bigger and better.”

Lt. Abrams showed KLFY where it happened Wednesday evening. The video clearly showing one suspect wheeling-away an entire cooler and loading stolen items into it.

The second suspect then comes back to grab a last minute item from the concession stand.

The face of one the men could be seen – – apparently, he didn’t realize that one of many surveillance cameras at the field is directly at him.

“We don’t know what the reasoning is. Is it just for fun? Is it on a dare? It’s still a crime. We are going to do everything we can to apprehend those suspects and make sure they’re prosecuted,” noted  Lt. Abrams.

UL Police said the items stolen were for Saturday’s game. Lt. Abrams doesn’t want the campus community to be tolerant of such crimes that show little disregard for others and the reputation UL Lafayette works hard for.

“We want to make sure the vendors are confident that when they bring property on Cajun Field for any event that when they come to get started everything is going to be there.” UL Police say anyone with information or can identify the suspects please contact UL Police.
