YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY)– A vigil was held in honor of 6-year old Keaton Jones this afternoon.
In a sea of Keaton’s favorite color, green, community members gathered to show their sympathy in a tragic time.
Keaton Jones was last seen at home in the Fortune Hills Subdivision around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The search turned for the worse after 6-year-old Jone’s body recovered in a pond located near his home.
Community members from around Acadiana met at the Youngsville subdivision, releasing a cloud of balloons into the sky as the sun set on the horizon.
The support for the little boy continued into the night as candles were lit in memory of his life.
Everyone joined in prayer and family members shed tears as they remembered Keaton who was described as a handful of joy, known to light up the room by singing and dancing everywhere he went.
“I just have to keep reminding myself that God let us borrow him for a little while,” Said Jones’ mother, “and he needed his angle back home with him.”
Family members thanked the community for their continuing support in their time of need.
Funeral arrangements have been set for Keaton. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016
