Almost 22.5 Lbs. of marijuana found in car with unlawfully displayed Gov. Plates on I-10

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY)—A Houston man has been arrested in Lake Charles after Troopers said his car with unlawfully displayed U.S. Government plates had approximately 22.5 pounds of marijuana in it.

In the morning hours of Sept. 27, authorities said James Ramone Brown, 39, of Houston, was observed by a State Trooper from Troop D speeding on the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge. He was stopped on the east side of the bridge.

According to a news release, Brown initially cooperated but then ran to his 2016 Dodge Charger and fled the scene at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.

Troopers said, Brown exited from I-10 at Opelousas Street and committed several additional traffic violations before stopping in a parking lot and fleeing on foot. He was caught soon afterward.

The vehicle Brown was driving was unlawfully displayed U.S. Government License plates and contained approximately 22.5 pounds of marijuana, according to officials.

Brown was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal possession of stolen things, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension, and speeding.

He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. His bond was set at $23,750.
