POINTE COUPEE PARISH, LA (WAFB) – A number of investigators from several agencies have been called to the scene of a deadly triple shooting at a home in Pointe Coupee Parish.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. in the 14400 block of Hwy 416 in Glynn, Louisiana. Officials confirmed three people are dead.
Pointe Coupee Sheriff Bud Torres said a West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputy and her daughter were killed in the shooting. He added the deputy was the wife of a Louisiana State Police trooper.
West Baton Rouge Sheriff Mike Cazes said the deputy was his first to lose while as sheriff.
Police believe the shooter, who was an estranged neighbor, to be among the dead.
“There was some difficulty between the neighbors and that is all that we know at this time. We are processing this scene. We are waiting on State Police crime lab and that’s where we are right now,” Torres said.
The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office will lead the investigation with the assistance of State Police and WBR Parish Sheriff’s Office.
